Summer in Glenview means outdoor dining in The Glen

June 13, 2017 by Margaret Ludemann

A couple of months ago I wrote a blog about the unofficial – but very real – sign of spring in Glenview, the opening of the Glenview Dairy Bar. Well, there’s also a sign of summer, and its right here in The Glen…outdoor dining in Glen Town Center.

We have 17 restaurants in The Glen, popular with locals and with people from throughout Chicagoland‘s North Shore. My sister and two nieces visited from out of town last weekend. We walked through Glen Town Center from our Tower Crossing townhome, barely a block away. We passed outdoor diners at Your Pie (a great little pizza place), State and Main, Flight Wine Bar, Ra Sushi Bar & Restaurant, Uno Mas, Bravo Cucina Italiana, Yardhouse, and several more wonderful restaurants. We decided on Curragh Irish Pub. The food was terrific, but the ambiance of dining outdoors on a lovely summer evening was even more so.

One of the great things about living in The Glen is our proximity to restaurants, shops, Arclight Cinema, and so much more. In fact, you can walk to Glen Town Center from any of the homes in The Glen whether they be single family homes, row homes, duplexes or condos. In many ways it’s like living in the city, though with less traffic and noise. In fact, we refer to The Glen lifestyle as “urban living in the suburbs”. The best of both worlds! And if we want to actually go to the city, our local Metra can get to the loop in 30 to 45 minutes.

So, stop by for dinner sometime. You’ll enjoy the food and fall in love with our community. And if you do, give me a call. I am an award winning Realtor who lives in and focuses on Glen homes.

76 home sales in The Glen in 2016

February 7, 2017 by Margaret Ludemann

There were 76 home sales in The Glen in 2016, almost identical to the 78 sold in 2015.  The Glen is a residential and retail development in Glenview Illinois known for its luxury homes and Glen Town Center, the shopping and restaurant mecca of Chicagoland’s North Shore.  It resides on the former property of the Naval Air Station Glenview.

The Glen consists of about 1300 luxury homes in nine distinct neighborhoods, all within walking distance of Tower Drive, Glen Town Center’s “main street”.  All neighborhoods had sales last year.

The Cambridge neighborhood, consisting of single family homes, duplexes, two-flats and row homes, had 10 sales among its 279 properties.  Chapel Crossing, a development of 168 single family homes, had 3 sales.  Glen Shore (31 condo apartments) and Landings (143 single family homes) each experienced 4 sales, while Patriot Commons (condo apartments and townhomes), Southgate Townhomes (62 units), and the new Westgate development (171 row homes and single family homes) each had 5 sales.  There were 19 sales in Regency among its 142 townhomes, duplexes and single family homes.  Of the 237 single family homes in Southgate 10 sold, and among Tower Crossing’s 154 townhomes 11 were sold and another 11 were rented.

As you can tell by my last paragraph there is a large variety of home types and styles in The Glen.  Home prices last year ranged from $330,000 to well over $1 million.  So there is something here for everyone.  If you may be interested in The Glen, please call me at 847-401-1802 or email me at margaretludemann@gmail.com.  I lead The Glen Realty Group team, and would love to show you around.

Glenview, one of the safest cities in the U.S.

February 25, 2016 by Margaret Ludemann

Safety. You’ll find few other factors more important to home buyers. And here’s some great news for homeowners in The Glen, a residential and retail development in Glenview, Illinois. Glenview is ranked the 37th safest city in the United States!

OK, let’s put that in perspective. According to U.S. Census Bureau statistics, there are 19,354 incorporated communities in the country. So, Glenview is in the top 0.0019% of American cities in safety. Rare air, indeed.

So, where did this ranking come from? As you know, lists of ‘top this’ and ‘top that’ appear regularly, often from sources with, shall we say, ulterior motives and questionable credibility. But that’s not the case here. Neighborhood Scout is a national neighborhood search engine and provider of location-based analytics for real estate investors, mortgage professionals, and home buyers.

The rankings are determined by factoring in data from over 18,000 law enforcement agencies, and ratings are assigned for various types of crime, such as murder, robbery, assault, burglary, and theft. Looking at the list of the Top 100 safe cities, we find that the safest places to live are in areas where residents can afford to relocate for quality of life. These tend to be bedroom communities near major cities, with low unemployment, high educational attainment, and great schools such as those found in Glenview. (In a future blog, I’m going to analyze Glenbrook South High School’s recent high ranking.)

So, if you are a resident of The Glen, rest easy…you’re in a great place. If you are considering buying a home in the Chicago area, take a look at The Glen. I am an award-winning Realtor and a long-time Glen homeowner, so give me a call.
