The Glen’s reputation is growing nationally and worldwide

May 12, 2015 by Margaret Ludemann

The Glen’s sterling reputation is growing nationally and internationally. You can’t imagine how many calls and emails I receive from prospective buyers who are not from Glenview or even the Chicago metropolitan area. Buyers find me via my proprietary website www.homesintheglen.com when searching the internet for houses in the Glen or just to learn about the area. And due to the borderless nature of the internet, along with employee word of mouth networks of nearby corporate headquarters, the Glen is known as a great place to live.

The Glen is the premier residential and retail development on Chicago’s North Shore. It has over a thousand luxury homes of every type: single family homes, townhomes, row homes, villas, duplexes, two-flats, and condos. Home prices range from $350,000 to over $2 million. Glen Town Center, the Glen’s retail hub, offers upscale and casual dining and shopping. Two golf courses, Kohl Children’s Museum, a book store, park, lake, and gardens add even more to the rich lifestyle in the Glen.

So here is how our reputation has grown throughout the country and indeed the world. Within a few minutes from the Glen you’ll find large corporate offices for such giants as Kraft, Allstate Insurance, Aon, Anixter International, Illinois Tool Works and Scott Foresman. Remote employees of these and other nearby corporations often come here on business; and while here, they visit the Glen for shopping or dining. One look and they fall in love with the place. They go back home – wherever that may be – singing our praises. When employees are transferred to Glenview headquarters the first place many look for homes is the Glen.

This worldwide reputation makes for a healthy real estate market in the Glen. If you may be interested in living the Glen lifestyle, please call or email me. I am a long time Glen resident and an award winning Realtor with @properties.

6 Tower Crossing homes now for sale! (6 for rent, too)

November 20, 2014 by Margaret Ludemann

Three months ago I wrote that only 1 Tower Crossing home was available for sale. My my, how the world has changed in 3 months. Since then 5 homes have been newly listed, and a total of 6 homes are currently for sale.

Tower Crossing is a 154 unit luxury townhome development in The Glen in Glenview, Illinois. To anyone who has ever visited the Glen’s restaurants or shops, Tower Crossing will be remembered as the homes bordering Glen Town Center on 3 sides. They are memorable, too, because they are 4 stories high with beautiful Georgian architecture.

There are 6 basic models in Tower Crossing and some major variations such as end units and bridge units. The homes are large, ranging in size from 3031 sq ft to 4105 sq ft. The price points of Tower Crossing homes range between roughly $625,000 and $900,000.

Now is a great time to be in the market for a Tower Crossing townhome because 4 of the models are for sale. There are 2 Astorias for sale, and 1 of them is an end unit. Astorias offer 3210 sq ft, and the end unit adds another 390 sq ft. 3 Blackstones (384 sq ft), an Omni 3625 sq ft) and a Drake end unit (3075 sq ft) are also on the market.

There are 6 homes also on the rental market ranging in prices between $3950 per month to $4500 per month.

The beauty of Tower Crossing lies not only IN the homes, but also outside. You can walk to 25 eating establishments, numerous boutiques, 2 golf courses (including The Glen Club), a movie theater and a book store. And if you walk across the street (Patriot Boulevard) you’ll find Battery Park, Lake Glenview, the Glenview Park Center, walking and biking trails, tennis courts and more. Residents of Tower Crossing will tell you that living here is all about the lifestyle. It’s the best combination of urban and suburban living.

If you are interested in learning more about Tower Crossing or anywhere in The Glen, please contact me at margaretludemann@gmail.com or 847-401-1802. I am a Tower Crossing resident and a leading Glen-area realtor.

11 more great reasons to live in The Glen

November 3, 2014 by Margaret Ludemann

In my blog last week (24 great reasons to live in The Glen) I told you about the convenience and fun of having 24 restaurants all within walking distance of Glen residents. Well, something happened last Saturday night that reminds me of 11 more great reasons. So here’s the story…

A Glen neighbor invited my husband and me to attend a party in their home. The theme was Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Is that fun or what?   So while I was getting all dressed up 1960’s style my husband was pulling together his formal attire for the evening. Tux, check. Tux shoes, check. Cummerbund, check. Bow tie, check. Tux shirt…oops, where’s the shirt? After determining that a) his shirt was at the laundry, and b) the laundry was closed, he was stuck. Then it occurred to us that we live a half block from Glen Town Center, the Glen’s shopping and dining “main street”. Quickly thinking through the many stores in the center, we decided that he had two men’s clothing stores within a block of our home. So he put everything on sans tux shirt and he ran out the door. (Yes, he was wearing a tee shirt under his jacket!) Ten minutes later he reappeared with a stunning white tux shirt; and off we went to the party.

So this morning I decided to look at the Glen’s directory, and I found 11 clothing stores in the center. Some are specialty shops that carry children’s clothes, sports attire, and women’s or men’s clothing. Von Maur, the large upscale clothing store, is also in Glen Town Center, and of course it carries most everything for most everyone.

The Glen (in Glenview, Illinois on Chicago’s North Shore) is a special place. The development has over 2,000 luxury homes, 24 restaurants, a movie theater, museum, art studio, and yes indeed 11 clothing stores…all within a short walk of any home. If you would like to learn more about living in The Glen, please give me a call at 847-401-1802 or send me an email at margaretludemann@gmail.com. I am an award winning Realtor who specializes in Glen homes (single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats, condos, and apartments). Home prices range from about $400,000 to $2,000,000.

Who knows…maybe one day you’ll live here…and be in desperate need of a tux shirt on a Saturday night.

24 great reasons to live in The Glen

October 28, 2014 by Margaret Ludemann

There are 24 restaurants in The Glen, the upscale housing and retail development in Glenview Illinois on Chicago’s North Shore. We realtors talk a lot about homes. How big they are. Where they are located. Nearby schools. Prices. Too often, though, we forget to discuss other benefits of living in a particular locale. So today I want to tell you about a HUGE benefit of living in The Glen. And here’s one: As a resident I can walk to two dozen Glen restaurants. Really.

The Glen is not your ordinary housing development. Sure, we have plenty of single family homes with large yards. But we also have townhomes, row homes, two-flats, duplexes, condos, and rental apartments. And they are in close proximity to all of these wonderful places to dine and also dozens of shops and entertainment venues. We’re kind of suburban. But we’re kind of urban, too. Actually, we’re a blend of both…with the advantages of each.

I live in Tower Crossing. It’s a neighborhood of townhomes that borders Glen Town Center, The Glen’s “main street”. I can walk out my front door and walk a half block to Salerno’s Italian restaurant. Walk a half block in the other direction and I can dine in The Glen Club’s grill with traditional American cuisine. There are 15 other restaurants right in town center and several others if I’m up for a walk of 5 or 6 blocks. The Glen offers food of all kinds. We have, as I said, Italian and American cuisine; and we also have Mexican, Irish, Japanese, Thai and Indian. From upscale dining to casual sandwich shops, The Glen has it all.

How many times have you wanted to go out to eat, but you didn’t want to deal with traffic? Or maybe you didn’t want to drive after having a cocktail? Ah, the beauty of living in The Glen.

To see a list of all Glen restaurants (and their menus) go to www.theglentowncenter.com. And if you are interested in living in the Glen, give me a call at 847-401-1802 or send me an email at MargaretLudemann@CBexchange.com.

No homes for sale in Tower Crossing in The Glen

December 2, 2013 by Margaret Ludemann

That’s right.  There are no homes available in Tower Crossing, the luxury townhome development in the heart of The Glen.

The Glen is an upscale residential and retail development in Glenview, Illinois in the Chicago area’s North Shore.  It is composed of eight residential neighborhoods (not counting retirement and assisted living communities) with a total of 1,349 homes and 3912 residents.  Glen Town Center is The Glen’s “Main Street” with scores of shops and restaurants, along with a movie theatre, coffee shop, book store and Kohl Children’s Museum.

Tower Crossing borders Glen Town Center on three sides which puts its residents within a few steps of dining and shopping venues.  This is one of the key attractions of Tower Crossing.  The homes are stunning, but the lifestyle is perhaps even more important to homeowners.

Tower Crossing has 154 four-story brick townhomes, all of which were sold by the developer years ago.  There are 6 models and 8 floor plans ranging in size from 3,031 to 4,105 square feet.  Home prices currently range from the low $600’s to around $800,000.  Many have views of Battery Park, Lake Glenview and The Glen Club’s 18 hole championship golf course.

Back to my point about inventory.  2013 has been an active one for Tower Crossing homes sales.  19 homes have sold and another is under contract waiting to close, but in a development of this size to have nothing currently on the market is rare.  Winter, of course, is typically slow in real estate, but Tower Crossing since its inception in 2003 has always had homes for sale either from the developer (through 2006) or since then from homeowners.  Another reason for no listings?  Because the people who live here LOVE IT.

Undoubtedly we will see some listings after the first of the year, so if you may be interested in Tower Crossing (where I proudly live!) or anywhere in The Glen, please contact me at margaretludemann@gmail.com.
