Urban living in the suburbs…Glen Town Center in The Glen

May 29, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

May was confused this year. Very confused. It couldn’t decide if it was spring or summer. Winter even. But when we got a few nice days I saw something that warmed my heart…outdoor tables and chairs in Glen Town Center. sigh…

Glen Town Center was one of the first of a new concept in suburban living in what we know as The Glen in Glenview Illinois. Think of The Glen as an urban neighborhood smack dab in the middle of a Chicago area suburb. 2000 townhomes, row homes, duplexes, condos and single family homes, and a fresh-from-scratch retail village at the center of it all. Casual and fancy-schmancy dining with a wide variety of cuisine including Italian, Thai, Greek, Irish, Japanese fusion, Mexican and American. There’s also a coffee shop, ice cream parlor, cookie shop, wine bar, sandwich shops, juice bar and yogurt…and much more. Whether you want burgers or chateaubriand, sushi or pizza, bangers & mash or tacos, lamb or salmon – or just a salad and a cocktail Glen Town Center has it all. And it’s within walking distance of any home in The Glen. You can eat in or eat out. Up to you.

Maybe you want to do a little shopping. Glen Town Center has that, too. Upscale boutiques abound along with a really cool bookstore. There are larger stores, too, like Von Maur and Dick’s Sporting Goods. It’s fun you want? Try our wonderful movie theater, cooking school, art and ceramics studios or, for the kids, Funtopia.

If this sounds like a great place to live you’re right. I can speak from experience as I’ve lived here since the beginning of the development. Let me know if you would like to live here, too. I am an award winning Realtor and Glen booster. Give me a call, and I’ll show you around.

Convenience

March 26, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

Unless you live in a very small town, odds are that you need to drive to most everything. Contrast that with the convenience of The Glen in Glenview Illinois where residents can walk to shopping, dining, recreation, entertainment, public transportation and even medical care.

Glen Town Center, walkable from any home in The Glen, is The Glen’s “main street” filled with restaurants, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, a book store, Arclight Movie Theater and tons of shopping in stores large and small.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Consider this. Folks lucky enough to live in The Glen can also walk to two golf courses. Two! And to Gallery Park’s jogging trails, tennis courts and fishing in Lake Glenview. Take the kids to Kohl Children’s Museum or Funtopia or to The Book Market’s Puppet Theater and Story Time.

Walk to Park Center, our local fitness facility that also offers basketball courts, pre-school and summer camps. We have an award-winning middle school here in The Glen, too. And in summer time residents walk to our several festivals and to our weekly summer outdoor concerts.  If you want to go to Chicago‘s many attractions (or to work) just stroll over to our Metra train station.

The Glen also has many doctors, dentists and even a fully functioning health clinic.

Does all of this sound too good to be true? Well, unless you live here it probably does. If you are interested in living in The Glen please give me a call. I am a long time Glen homeowner and a Realtor selling Glen homes.

The Glen’s Annual Art Fair…a big success once again

August 11, 2017 by Margaret Ludemann

The annual Glen Art Fair was held last weekend, and it was a great success again this year.  Artists from throughout the United States displayed their beautiful works of art; in fact I met artists from California to New York.  As always, this fun event took place on Tower Drive, Glen Town Center’s main drag; and it seemed to me that we had more visitors than in any previous year.

The Glen is the North Shore’s premier lifestyle community, meaning it has stunning homes, 17 restaurants, upscale shopping, jogging trails, golf courses, tennis courts, and a picturesque lake.  It is located on the site of the former Glenview Naval Air Station in Glenview, Illinois, approximately 18 miles north of downtown Chicago.

Visitors to the fair were treated to art of many genres including paintings, photography, sculpture, glass works, folk art, crafts, cartooning, and digital art. I live only one block from Glen Town Center in The Glen’s Tower Crossing neighborhood, so it was easy for me to come and go several times over the weekend.  I purchased several items related to “home” that I’ll give to my real estate clients.

All of this will happen again next August, and I’m already looking forward to it.  You should check it out, too.  You’ll enjoy it as much as those of us who are fortunate homeowners and residents of The Glen. And if you might be interested in living in the Glen, please give me a call. I am a local Realtor who specializes in Glen properties – single family homes, row homes, town homes, two flats, duplexes and condos.

The layout of The Glen…more than beautiful homes

September 15, 2016 by Margaret Ludemann

While The Glen (in Glenview Illinois) is principally known for its 1300 luxury homes in nine neighborhoods, you will find retail, commercial and professional areas as well. This impressive development, now about 15 years old, was laid out thoughtfully and with great care. The arrangement of these various and distinct areas works to the benefit of Glen residents and of visitors who come for its first class dining, recreation, entertainment, and services.

Just as there are unique residential neighborhoods in the Glen, there are distinct retail areas, too. On the south end of The Glen, you will find an upscale shopping plaza anchored by the Jewel Osco grocery store and pharmacy. There is a Little Gym franchise for kids, Glen Spa and Nails, a dentist (Dr. Suh, who is loved and admired by all), H & R Block tax services, Lauren’s Cleaners, and two restaurants.

Glen Town Center is The Glen’s “Main Street”. It offers numerous restaurants, boutiques, the Arclight Cinema, a coffee house, two ice cream/yogurt parlors, and much more.

Just north of Glen proper, separated from every other part of the community by Willow Road, you’ll find Costco and Home Depot. This area is physically separate and aesthetically very different from the main part of the Glen, but the convenience of these popular retailers is greatly valued by Glen residents.

Commercial and professional offices in the Glen may be found north of Glen Town Center and south of Willow Road. Many different types of business are located here, as well as numerous doctors’ offices. There is even a walk-in Northwestern Medical outpatient clinic.

So that’s the layout of The Glen. It’s a great place to own a home, shop, visit for entertainment, receive medical care, and do business. If you may be interested in living in The Glen, please contact me. I am an original homeowner in the Tower Crossing townhome neighborhood and an award-winning Realtor affiliated with @properties. I can be reached at 847-401-1802 or margaretludemann@gmail.com.
