Tap, Tap, Tap – Kids in The Glen

August 22, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

At first, I heard what sounded like tapping.  I was walking from my Glen home in the Tower Crossing neighborhood near Glen Town Center to Your Pie, the neighborhood pizza joint.  As I got a little closer to Glen Town Center the tapping sounded more like knocking.  I looked to the right, and by now the tapping/knocking had become pounding.  And then I saw her.  A little girl seemingly attacking the front door of Funtopia, a children’s indoor playhouse of sorts.  She wanted in!  It was nearly time to open, and she just couldn’t wait!

So, why do I tell you this?  Well, because The Glen in Glenview Illinois is a fun place for kids to grow up and have fun in a safe environment.  We have beautiful neighborhoods with upscale homes, numerous restaurants, great shopping…and a lot of cool stuff for our children.  In addition to Funtopia, you’ll find Kohl Children’s Museum filled with all kinds of activities for younger kids.  At Color Me Mine creativity and fun reign.  It’s a paint your own pottery fantasy land where kids with their parents or pals select a piece of pottery, paint whatever they want on it, then come back a few days later after the store has fired it up to create a one of a kind masterpiece.  Glen Town Center is also a place for ice cream and the movies.  The Glen also offers parks, playgrounds, sports fields and much more.

For kids and parents alike, living in The Glen is about as good as it gets.  We have single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.  Home prices range from the $300’s to $2 million.  I’m a very fortunate Glen homeowner, and my husband and I have raised our son here.  If you may be interested in this kind of wonderful living for your family, please email me atmargaretludemann@gmail.com or call me at 847-401-1802.  I am a top producing Realtor living in and focusing my practice in The Glen.

It’s spring…time to sell or buy a home in The Glen

April 24, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

Yes, I know you’ve heard it many times, but here it is again.  Spring is the very best time of year to buy or sell a home.  It’s when buyers begin to get serious about their next home purchase.  Why?  Well, a couple of reasons.

First, spring (yes, I think it’s really here now) is when home buyers come out of hibernation, blink their eyes because of the sunlight, and begin to get serious about finding their new homes.  They’ve been cooped up all winter long, and while planning on a move, they just didn’t have their hearts in it.

The second reason is the most important.  Families with kids are already thinking about the fall when little Johnny and little Mary will need to know where they’ll be going to school.  (As an aside, children in The Glen are fortunate to attend Glenview’s outstanding schools, rated among the best in the country!)  Knowing that it may take a few months to close on a new home after signing a purchase contract, buyers want to see what’s out there and pick just the right home for them in time to close and move during the summer.

So, friends, it’s April.  And it’s spring.  Finally!  If you want to sell your home, let’s get it listed for sale.  Homebuyers are out there just waiting to see your Glen home.  And if you are a buyer, there’s no better place to live than The Glen, in beautiful Glenview, a close-in Chicago-area community.  We have lovely neighborhoods with single family homes, townhomes, duplexes, and condos.  They’re all within walking distance of Glen Town Center’s restaurants, shops and movie theater…as well as the Glen’s Metra station to get you into the city in well under an hour.

Whether you’re a buyer or seller, give me a call.  I am a long time Glen homeowner and an expert on Glen properties.

Golfing in The Glen

April 19, 2017 by Margaret Ludemann

It’s spring, and that means golf.  Here in The Glen we are fortunate to have two – count them TWO – wonderful golf courses, both within walking distance of any Glen home.

A wonderful thing about living in The Glen is the availability of  The Glen Club and Glenview Prairie Club.  Both courses are of high quality and they are open to the public. The Glen is a Chicago area north shore residential and retail development.  There are over 2,000 luxury homes of all types, and home prices range from the $300’s to over $2 million.

The Glen Club is well known and highly regarded. It’s an 18 hole championship course designed by the legendary Tom Fazio. The course is beautiful to look at and challenging to play. Golf Magazine has rated it the fourth best courses you can play in Illinois and among the Top 100 in the United States. When it opened in 2001 Sports Illustrated listed it as a top 10 new course. A stately 48,000 square feet clubhouse provides overnight lodging and first class dining. The club offers private corporate memberships, but it is also available to non-member individual golfers.

The Glenview Prairie Club offers Paddle Tennis courts as well as golf. The course is meticulously maintained (by The Glen Club!), and it is beloved by Glen residents who prefer a shorter round of golf.

Many Glen homes have great views of these picturesque golf courses. Fifty-five magnificent “estate” single family homes in the Southgate subdivision border The Glen Club’s course as do nine stunning townhomes in Tower Crossing. Several homes in the lovely Westgate and Patriot Commons neighborhoods also have great views.

If you are a golfer who may be interested in living in the Glen please contact me for additional information. I am a long time Glen resident and an award winning Realtor with @properties.

First dates…in The Glen

September 20, 2016 by Margaret Ludemann

My husband bought our movie tickets on our first date. It was in the city, long ago. Of course he wasn’t my husband then, but I remember thinking he was off to a good start. ‘Splitting the bill’ seemed to be the thing back then, or maybe I had been seeing the wrong guys. Now that I think about it, I’m sure I had been seeing the wrong guys. Anyway, my memory of that evening remains strong, and I bet you remember yours, too.

So, what’s that have to do with a blog about The Glen? Read on.

Fast forward. My family has lived in The Glen (in Glenview Illinois) since nearly its beginning. And what a great place to live! 1300 luxury homes. Gallery Park. Lake Glenview. Two golf courses. A vibrant “downtown” area called Glen Town Center with upscale shopping, tons of great restaurants, a coffee shop, and – you guessed it – a cool movie theater…perfect for first dates or even 50th anniversaries.

It’s a place where well-behaved kids can “hang out” on a Friday night. (Sometimes first dates involve a lot of people and much hanging out.) They eat mac and cheese at Noodles or pizza at Your Pie, catch the latest superhero movie at Arclight Cinema, get ice cream at Ben and Jerry’s or cookies at Cookies By Design. It’s a safe place where they can see friends, talk about homecoming, and maybe, just maybe, fall in love for the first time.

It’s also a place where those of us of a certain age can hang out, too. We might get a drink at Flight Wine Bar, dinner at Bravo Cucina Italiana, catch the new non-superhero movie, and have a late night cappuccino at Starbucks. We might even hold hands walking back to our beautiful Glen home; or, if it’s a first date, back to the car to plan a second date.

Since I live about 30 steps from Glen Town Center I see a lot of first dates. Second dates and long term anniversaries, too. The Glen…it’s a great place to fall in love for the first time. Or fall in love all over again.
