The Book Market in The Glen. Books. Gifts. (And…a Puppet Theater?)

September 11, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

Ask anyone in The Glen (in Glenview Illinois) about our local book store, and you’ll hear rave reviews.  “The Book Market at Hangar One” in Glen Town Center features new releases, bestsellers, bargain books, educational toys, gifts, soft seating, free family events, a kid’s corner, and a place to study or read.  So, not only is it a cool place to find great books, but it’s also a wonderful place for kids, families and fun.

I’ve always loved book stores.  I enjoy looking through the shelves to find something new or maybe a book I somehow missed.  I can’t tell you how many times in the 15 years I’ve lived in The Glen that I’ve spent a lazy hour or two hanging out in The Book Market exploring, reading and just relaxing.  I’ve also done some shopping, especially for my son when he was a little tyke.

And speaking of little tykes, it’s also such a fun place for kids.  Every month the Book Market sponsors a Puppet Theater.  The next one is at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 13 featuring Al. E. Gator & Friends.  Other upcoming puppet programs include Dragon Days and Knight Time and The Shoemaker & Elves and the Night Before Christmas.  Another monthly event is Story Time, an interactive themed book reading.

So, whether you’re looking for books or gifts or for a fun place for children, The Book Market is the place for you.  And if you’re looking for a great place to live, consider The Glen.  We have upscale homes of every kind including single family homes, townhomes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.  Home prices range from the $330s to over $2 million.

Give me a call or send me an email.  I am an award-winning Realtor and Glen homeowner.

Tap, Tap, Tap – Kids in The Glen

August 22, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

At first, I heard what sounded like tapping.  I was walking from my Glen home in the Tower Crossing neighborhood near Glen Town Center to Your Pie, the neighborhood pizza joint.  As I got a little closer to Glen Town Center the tapping sounded more like knocking.  I looked to the right, and by now the tapping/knocking had become pounding.  And then I saw her.  A little girl seemingly attacking the front door of Funtopia, a children’s indoor playhouse of sorts.  She wanted in!  It was nearly time to open, and she just couldn’t wait!

So, why do I tell you this?  Well, because The Glen in Glenview Illinois is a fun place for kids to grow up and have fun in a safe environment.  We have beautiful neighborhoods with upscale homes, numerous restaurants, great shopping…and a lot of cool stuff for our children.  In addition to Funtopia, you’ll find Kohl Children’s Museum filled with all kinds of activities for younger kids.  At Color Me Mine creativity and fun reign.  It’s a paint your own pottery fantasy land where kids with their parents or pals select a piece of pottery, paint whatever they want on it, then come back a few days later after the store has fired it up to create a one of a kind masterpiece.  Glen Town Center is also a place for ice cream and the movies.  The Glen also offers parks, playgrounds, sports fields and much more.

For kids and parents alike, living in The Glen is about as good as it gets.  We have single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.  Home prices range from the $300’s to $2 million.  I’m a very fortunate Glen homeowner, and my husband and I have raised our son here.  If you may be interested in this kind of wonderful living for your family, please email me atmargaretludemann@gmail.com or call me at 847-401-1802.  I am a top producing Realtor living in and focusing my practice in The Glen.

Cool stuff happening in The Glen

July 24, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

Living in The Glen (in Glenview Illinois) means having a lovely home, wonderful restaurants within walking distance, great shopping, Arclight Cinema and fun activities.  As I’ve said so often about The Glen…it’s about the lifestyle.  Glen Town Center is the hub of Glen living.  It’s a shopping, dining and entertainment mecca.  Today I want to tell you about the entertainment coming to GTC over the next few weeks.

The Summer Sounds series continues with outdoor music provided by terrific bands.  These are Tuesday evening events where residents (and others) can bring a blanket and have a picnic while enjoying the entertainment.  On July 31st Tainted Jack will perform, followed by Rico on August 7th.  Future performances will include, The Windy City Rev Up, Libido Fund Circus and the Victor Brown Band.

On August 2nd, the Story Time at The Book Market program continues with a 10:30 a.m. event for kids.  Children’s author Patricia Murphy will take the kids on a fun journey through interactive numbers, shapes, stories and activities.

The annual Art at The Glen extravaganza is scheduled for the weekend of August 4 & 5 when scores of artists will be on hand showing off (and selling) their marvelous works of art.

And on August 11th the Glen’s Puppet Theater Series will enthrall kids with a show titled Three Billy Goats Gruff, presented by The Creventive (not a typo) Puppet Company.

So, please join Glen residents for one or more of these great entertainment events.  And if this is the kind of lifestyle you want for your family, give me a call at 847-401-1802.  I am an award-winning Realtor and long time Glen homeowner.  I would be delighted to show you the various Glen neighborhoods filled with upscale housing including single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.  Home prices range from the high $300s to over $2 million.  You can also reach me by email at MargaretLudemann@gmail.com.

Gallery Park makes living in The Glen even better

July 18, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

The Jewel of the Nile is a movie with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.  It’s also an album by Nice & Smooth.  The Jewel of the Seas is a cruise ship.  Well, The Glen, a residential and retail development in Glenview Illinois, is not the Nile or a movie or a song or a ship…but we do have a jewel.  It’s called Gallery Park, smack dab in the middle of The Glen, for all to see, and all to enjoy.

Gallery Park was developed along with The Glen about 17 years ago, and it is a beloved spot for locals like me.  It is huge, and it offers so much.  There is a lovely lake (Lake Glenview) with fishing allowed in season.  It also has walking and jogging trails, soccer fields, and tennis courts.  When my son was a tyke he enjoyed Little Bear Garden and the water spray area.

The award-winning Glenview Park Center is located adjacent to the park, providing basketball courts, an indoor track, swimming, a water park, pre-school and a tremendous fitness center.

There are many great reasons to live in The Glen.  Gallery Park is but one of them.  We have lovely single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.  We have many to choose from right now.  And Glen Town Center’s restaurants and shops are walking distance from most anywhere in The Glen.  If you may want to live in The Glen, please give me a call at 847-401-1802.  I am an award-winning Realtor and long time Glen homeowner.

The 4th of July in The Glen

July 9, 2018 by Margaret Ludemann

The marching bands.  The floats.  Candy thrown to children.  It was the 4th of July in my town, Glenview Illinois.

What a wonderful 4th of July in Glenview again this year, and the parade drew a huge crowd as always.  People from throughout our village – many from The Glen – came out to celebrate our nation’s founding and what it is to be an American.  There were kids.  Tons of kids.  Moms, dads and grandparents, too.  It was a family affair that everyone will long remember.

Flags.  I’ve never seen so many flags!  They hung from lamp posts and windows.  They were draped on floats and carried by veterans, firefighters and many others marching along the parade route.  I particularly loved the marching bands with Glenbrook South High School’s award-winning band leading the way.  They played The Star Spangled Banner and other patriotic songs.  Those in the crowd stood, men took off their hats, and many sang, applauded and put a hand over their heart.

When evening arrived village residents poured into The Glen to see the fireworks.  The Glen’s Gallery Park was the scene.  It’s a large park so there was plenty of room for lawn chairs and blankets.  And space for kids to run and play.  The park is bordered on three sides by four of the nine residential developments in The Glen:  Cambridge, Tower Crossing, Landings and Chapel Crossing.  My family and I watched it from our townhome in Tower Crossing.  It was an amazing scene.

If you would like to know more about living in The Glen or greater Glenview, give me a call.  There are many beautiful homes for sale…single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.  I’m an award-winning Realtor and a long time Glen homeowner.
