Upgrades for The Glen’s Glenview National 9 Golf Course

October 26, 2012 by Margaret Ludemann

Construction is under way for Glenview National 9’s new clubhouse and paddle tennis courts.

Glenview National 9, The Glen’s beautiful nine-hole public course, is getting a big face lift.  The course itself has always been in tip top shape, due in large part to an agreement with The Glen Club for ongoing maintenance.  The Glen Club is a semi-private 18 hole championship course across the street.  It is one of the finest courses anywhere (designed by Tom Fazio), and is a frequent stop on the PGA’s Nationwide Tour.  Glenview National 9 will soon be home to a new 2600 sq ft clubhouse at a cost to the Village of Glenview of $2,200,000.  Work has begun, and it is scheduled to be completed in the spring.  The new clubhouse will also feature four paddle tennis courts.  The village believes that this may be the only publicly owned golf course and paddle tennis facility in the United States.

Residents of The Glen are very excited about these upgrades to Glenview National 9.  The course is already very popular, hosting over 20,000 rounds of golf annually!  And convenient…it’s located IN The Glen, just across the street from the stunning Tower Crossing townhomes and Pulte Homes’ new development, Regency at The Glen.  It is also within close walking distance from the beautiful Cambridge neighborhood.  Other Glen neighborhoods are but a few minutes drive from Glenview National 9 such as Southgate, Landings at The Glen, Patriot Commons, Chapel Crossing, and Glen Shore.

For more information about Glenview National 9 and other Glenview-based courses to to www.golfglenview.com.  Better yet, stop by Glen Town Center in the heart of the Glen for lunch or shopping, and stroll over to the course to take a first hand look.

The Glen’s Tower Crossing townhomes…jump in recent sales

October 14, 2012 by Margaret Ludemann

A rainbow shines over the Tower Crossing townhomes

Four Tower Crossing townhomes sold in a two week period recently.  One might expect that in a new development with a large number of homes.  But Tower Crossing, in The Glen, is nine years old, and it has only 154 homes.  I haven’t seen anything like it in years.

The Glen is a residential and retail development in Glenview Illinois on the site of a former naval airbase.  When the base was closed the land was sold to the village of Glenview which subsequently developed it into several distinct neighborhoods.  The development is also home to Glen Tower Center with 17 restaurants, many retail stores and boutiques, the Kohl Children’s Museum, an art gallery, and a fine book store.  The Glen development also includes Lake Glenview, Gallery Park, Attea Middle School, the Park Center, and a beautiful new train station.

Tower Crossing borders Glen Town Center and two golf courses, including the Tom Fazio-designed Glen Club.  The Tower Crossing row homes come in six models with 3031 sq ft – 4105 sq ft.  These are luxurious homes, stunning in design and comfortable to live in.  As I said, four of these beautiful homes sold between September 28 and October 12.  I am proud to say that I had a part in three of these sales.  Two were my listings:  1888 Admiral Court and 2001 Valor Court.  I represented the buyer of 1858 Admiral.  The one sale that I was not involved in was at 1800 Admiral.  All four homes are under contract, and waiting to close.

Tower Crossing has four homes currently on the market so if you are interested in a stunning row home and a great lifestyle, please give me a call at 847-401-1802.

Von Maur Anchors Glen Town Center Shopping

September 12, 2012 by Margaret Ludemann

Von Maur in the center of Glen Town Center

Glen Town Center in THE GLEN, Glenview Illinois, is a jewel for area shopping and dining.  With 26 stores, shops and boutiques – and 16 restaurants (including The Glen Club‘s beautiful restaurant) – it is a destination venue beyond comparison in the Chicago area.

Anchoring Glen Town Center’s retail offerings is Von Maur, an upscale clothier for men, women, and children.  In addition to offering top of the line clothing brands, Von Maur sells shoes, handbags, accessories, jewelry, beauty and fragrance products, gifts, and collectibles.  Von Maur is a regional retail powerhouse with 27 stores throughout 10 Midwestern states (plus Georgia).  It has been in business well over 100 years, and it shows.  What really sets Von Maur apart from many upscale retailers is the shopping experience.  Upon entering the store one hears music.  That’s not unique…but in this case it is.  Our Von Maur here in The Glen has a pianist playing live music on a beautiful, black grand piano.  My husband and I have actually visited Von Maur just to hear the lovely music!  I should also point out that gift wrapping and shipping is free!

Von Maur is on Tower Drive (our “Main Street”), only steps away from my Tower Crossing row home.  It is also walking distance from other Glen neighborhoods such as Southgate, Cambridge, Landings, Chapel Crossing and Patriot Commons.  On either side of Von Maur are Dick’s Sporting Goods and Pascal Pour Elle spa.  And it’s steps away from our very own movie theater, Regal Glen 10.

We’re spoiled here in The Glen.  And we love it!

Art Fair Returns to Glen Tower Center

August 18, 2012 by Margaret Ludemann

Thousands attended The Glen’s annnual Art Fair

The annual Glen Town Center Art Fair returned to Tower Drive in The Glen last weekend.  The entire street was filled with booths displaying various forms of art by nationally known and very prominent artists.  Both sides of our “main street” were packed with gawkers and buyers alike.

My son was the first in my family to head “downtown”.  Having just received his allowance he grabbed his wallet and walked the half block to where one end of the fair began.  We live in the Tower Crossing townhome community which borders Glen Town Center on three sides, so we were particularly close to the action!  Most of the art was well beyond his financial means, but there was one artist who created fanciful characters out of metal…any old kind of metal such as nails, scissors, bolts and washers.  While this particular artist had many expensive items, he displayed some smaller pieces within the budget of an eleven year old boy who had been saving up for a couple of months.  He made a purchase from this artist last year, but his acquisition last weekend was a special treasure…a musician with guitar.

Paintings, photographs, hand crafted jewelry, tiles, silver work, pottery, and wood craft were among the art forms for sale at this year’s fair which attracted a couple thousand people during the weekend.  My husband and I enjoyed strolling down the street looking at the displays, visiting with artists, and running into Glen neighbors.  We have such a vibrant community here in The Glen, and our annual art fair is a great example.  We can hardly wait for next year.

The Glen’s Regency Townhomes Taking Shape

July 27, 2012 by Margaret Ludemann

Two of 40 ranch villas are nearing completion at Regency in The Glen.

After grabbing  some ice cream in Glen Town Center my husband and I walked over to The Glen’s newest housing development the other evening.  Regency at The Glen is under construction, and I was surprised how far they’ve come in a few short months.  Regency will have 109 townhomes and 40 ranch villas when all is said and done sometime next year.  I’ve sold two of the villas to owners of Tower Crossing townhomes which is where I live.  The Tower Crossing townhomes are huge, measuring between 3031 sq ft and 4105 sq ft.  My clients wanted to stay in The Glen but downsize a bit.  The size of the Regency townhomes range between 1523 and 1835 sq ft.  The ranch villas are larger at 1883 – 2493 sq ft.

The Glen has incorporated different housing styles and sizes quite nicely.  Naturally there are several single family home neighborhoods such as Chapel Crossing, Landings at The Glen, Cambridge and Southgate on The Glen.  There is one condo development as well, Glen Shore.  Townhomes are very popular here as well due to the urban feeling of the community with it’s own main street, restaurants, and shops.  In addition to Tower Crossing, Cambridge, Southgate and Patriot Commons offers townhomes, villas and duplexes.

So anyway, I snapped this photo at Regency.  In fact I’m taking pictures every few weeks so I can show friends and clients how the development is progressing.  It’s going to be a very cool neighborhood…and it’s a short walk to all of the fun things in The Glen.
