Regency at The Glen…beautiful!

The Glen is a luxury residential and retail development in Chicago’s North Shore community of Glenview.  There are nine distinct private neighborhoods in The Glen.  Today, I want to tell you about Regency at the Glen.  This beautiful neighborhood is composed of 104 luxury townhomes, 38 ranch villas, and 2 single family homes.

Four dramatic two – three story townhome models are offered with 9’ ceilings, private decks, two or three bedrooms and 1523 to 1835 square feet.

There are two spectacular villa models offering one or two stories, two or three bedrooms, 9’ ceilings, granite counter tops, and 1883 – 2493 square feet.

Professional landscaping and attached garages are offered with each home.  The Regency neighborhood is only a few blocks from two magnificent golf courses. Living in The Glen’s Tower Crossing neighborhood

I live in Tower Crossing in The Glen.  I do.  And I love it.  Always have.  Always will.

I moved here to Glenview in the relatively early days of The Glen development back in 2003.  In fact, my gorgeous townhome is on Lot #1 of the Tower Crossing neighborhood, one of 9 distinct developments in The Glen.  Some Glen neighborhoods have single family homes, others offer row homes, two-flats, duplexes and condos.  That’s my townhome in the photo, the end unit on the right.  Four stories, 3 bedrooms, 3.1 bathrooms, 2 fireplaces, a luxurious kitchen…and a whole bunch of fun.

Fun?  Yes fun!  I can easily walk to Glen Town Center’s many shops, restaurants and movie theater.  In fact, there’s a great little pizza place, Your Pie, a half block from my front door.  (I should count the number of steps someday.)  The Glen Metra station is a 10-minute stroll, and I have a big park nearly across the street.  It’s a lot like living in the city where we used to live, but…it has wonderful attributes of the suburbs, too.  Get this, I have two golf courses a block from my home.  Two!  The park has walking and biking trails.  The schools are incredible.  I mean REALLY incredible, award-winning schools.  I can get to O’Hare in 20 minutes by car, and the Loop in 45 minutes by train.  You can’t beat it.

It’s spring…time to sell or buy a home in The Glen

Yes, I know you’ve heard it many times, but here it is again.  Spring is the very best time of year to buy or sell a home.  It’s when buyers begin to get serious about their next home purchase.  Why?  Well, a couple of reasons.

First, spring (yes, I think it’s really here now) is when home buyers come out of hibernation, blink their eyes because of the sunlight, and begin to get serious about finding their new homes.  They’ve been cooped up all winter long, and while planning on a move, they just didn’t have their hearts in it.

The second reason is the most important.  Families with kids are already thinking about the fall when little Johnny and little Mary will need to know where they’ll be going to school.  (As an aside, children in The Glen are fortunate to attend Glenview’s outstanding schools, rated among the best in the country!)  Knowing that it may take a few months to close on a new home after signing a purchase contract, buyers want to see what’s out there and pick just the right home for them in time to close and move during the summer.

Convenience

Unless you live in a very small town, odds are that you need to drive to most everything. Contrast that with the convenience of The Glen in Glenview Illinois where residents can walk to shopping, dining, recreation, entertainment, public transportation and even medical care.

Glen Town Center, walkable from any home in The Glen, is The Glen’s “main street” filled with restaurants, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, a book store, Arclight Movie Theater and tons of shopping in stores large and small.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Consider this. Folks lucky enough to live in The Glen can also walk to two golf courses. Two! And to Gallery Park’s jogging trails, tennis courts and fishing in Lake Glenview. Take the kids to Kohl Children’s Museum or Funtopia or to The Book Market’s Puppet Theater and Story Time.

Walk to Park Center, our local fitness facility that also offers basketball courts, pre-school and summer camps. We have an award-winning middle school here in The Glen, too. And in summer time residents walk to our several festivals and to our weekly summer outdoor concerts.  If you want to go to Chicago‘s many attractions (or to work) just stroll over to our Metra train station.

The Glen also has many doctors, dentists and even a fully functioning health clinic.

High school serving The Glen is in the top 0.001% in USA

Glenbrook South High School (GBS) is the public high school serving kids in The Glen and greater Glenview.  The Glen is the upscale retail and housing development on the grounds of the former Naval Air Station Glenview.  Over 1300 children of all ages live in The Glen, and 379 attend GBS.

GBS was recently ranked as one of the top high schools in the country!  Niche is a Pittsburgh based company whose analytics identify and rank schools and neighborhoods.  Information is gathered to determine school rankings by compiling data which is collected and monitored by the U.S. Department of Education.  GBS ranked #30 of the more than 26,000 public high schools in the country.  My calculator tells me that this equates to the top 0.001%.  Lotta zeros there!  And it was just last year that Niche ranked GBS as the #1 high school in America for extracurricular activities which include clubs, organizations, music groups and athletic teams.

I’m fortunate that my son is a GBS Titan.  He’s getting an excellent education, and takes part in numerous activities.  I’m proud of him.  I’m proud of GBS.  And I’m proud to live in The Glen.
