Annual Art Fair in The Glen Is This Weekend, August 3 & 4

July 31, 2019 by Margaret Ludemann

This is a weekend that everyone in The Glen, Glenview and much of the North Shore looks forward to…the Annual Glen Art Fair.  It’s one of the largest in the Chicago metropolitan area, and many consider it the best.  Glen Town Center will come alive with artist booths featuring painting, jewelry, sculpture and wearables.  Spend time visiting with the many artists (150 in all) who will have their work for sale.  There will be live music, art demonstrations and the ever popular art tent for kids.  There is no charge and plenty of parking…and great weather is in the forecast.  The exhibits will be open from 10 to 5 Saturday and Sunday.  2030 Tower Drive in Glenview.

The Glen’s 40/20 Convenience Factor

July 8, 2019 by Margaret Ludemann

“I used to think I knew Glenview.  But I did NOT know Glenview.”  That was what my new’ish neighbor said to me recently.  He and his wife moved into The Glen late last year.  The Glen is a luxury housing development in Glenview, Illinois, a North Shore Chicago suburb.  They love their beautiful home and the short walk to Glen Town Center’s many restaurants, shops and movie theater.  But his point was a bigger one.  Let’s call it the 40/20 convenience factor.

The Glen’s Metra train station (shown in photo) is walking distance from any home in The Glen, and – here’s my neighbor’s point – it’s only 40 minutes to downtown Chicago.  Less than that during some morning and evening rush hour trains.  And what really blew him away is that O’Hare International Airport is only about 20 minutes by car.  Really!  I’m not kidding!  My neighbor is a business exec, and he frequently goes into the city or to the airport for business trips.  Living in The Glen made his commutes much faster and easier.

There are many more advantages to living in The Glen, especially the variety of home types.  We have single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes and condos.  Give me a call and I’ll tell you about them.  I’m a long time Glen homeowner and an award-winning Realtor who focuses on The Glen.

Watch FIFA’s Women’s World Cup soccer tournament in The Glen

June 3, 2019 by Margaret Ludemann

Elephant and Castle, a British themed pub/restaurant in The Glen, is the place to be to watch any or all of the 52 matches that will be televised from France.  The restaurant is all decked out for the tournament with “Football Lives Here” emblazoned on the windows and doors.  Of course, we Americans would call this “soccer”, but for the rest of the world it’s “football”.  The tournament starts June 7 and will run to the championship match on July 7.

Elephant and Castle is located in Glen Town Center, The Glen’s retail and restaurant “main street”.  It offers a large pub menu of great food and drink.  The Glen is a North Shore residential and retail development in Glenview, Illinois featuring hundreds of beautiful homes, great restaurants and boutique shopping.  You’ll find single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.

So, if you love football…uh “soccer”…come out to watch the best women’s teams of 24 countries compete.  And while you’re here, take a look at The Glen.  It’s a great place to live, and if you’re interested please give me a call.

Cambridge at The Glen…all kinds of homes and prices

May 16, 2019 by Margaret Ludemann

The Glen is a residential and retail development in the beautiful North Shore village of Glenview.  It contains nine individual neighborhoods, built between 2001 and 2017 by different developers.  Cambridge at The Glen is one of those neighborhoods, and it has the most diversity of home styles.  Some Glen neighborhoods have only one home type.  For instance, the Landings and Chapel Crossing developments only have single family homes, and you’ll only find townhomes in Tower Crossing.  Still another neighborhood, Southgate, offers townhomes and single family homes.

On the other hand, Cambridge has single family homes, townhomes, row homes, duplexes and two-flats.  The range of home prices is also quite different from most of the other Glen neighborhoods, from the high $400s to $1 million.  You’ll find some row homes and two-flats in the $400s and $500s.  Single family homes can reach a seven figure price point.

In addition to the diversity and prices of Cambridge, there are other advantages to the neighborhood.  It is closest to The Glen’s Metra train station, an easy walk from any of its homes.  It is also very close to Glen Town Center, the crown jewel of The Glen.  It has wonderful restaurants, shops, a movie theater, bookstore, coffee shop and it even borders a Kohl Children’s Museum.  Cambridge’s proximity to Gallery Park is another advantage with its open spaces, jogging trails, lake and tennis courts.  And, it’s walking distance to two great golf courses, The Glen Club and Glenview Prairie Club.

So, no matter what kind of home you prefer, Cambridge at The Glen would be a great place to live.  If you would like to take a look, give me a call.

Large single family homes in Southgate in The Glen

April 15, 2019 by Margaret Ludemann

There’s roughly the same number of single family homes and attached homes in The Glen in Glenview, a North Shore suburban village close to Chicago.  Attached homes are townhomes, row homes, duplexes, two-flats and condos.  Of The Glen’s ten neighborhoods with privately-owned homes, five offer single family homes which is today’s blog topic.  Home prices for single family homes range from the $600s to over $2 million.

The largest single family homes are found in the Southgate development.  Southgate offers 237 homes ranging in size from 2600 to over 5000 square feet.  Fifty-five Estate Homes on lots of at least 1/3 of an acre border The Glen Club’s award-winning golf course, so the views are amazing.  The other 182 homes are found on Southgate’s lovely winding streets with large, beautiful trees and landscaping.

Southgate even has its own playground for small children.  It’s a private area for Southgate residents only.  Naturally this development, as with all Glen neighborhoods, is close to Glen Town Center’s many restaurants and shops as well as its movie theater and book store.  All in all, Southgate is hard to beat.

If you’re interested in large, beautiful homes, let me take you to Southgate to look around.  There are several homes for sale.
